Rain disrupts Cap Coast power

MORE than 3000 Capricorn Coast residents were without power Wednesday morning after storm damage caused a flashover on equipment at the Yeppoon substation.

Ergon Energy said the flashover on lightning arrestors in the substation triggered protection equipment , which cut supply to 3100 customers in the Byfield, Cawarral, Emu Park, Keppel Sands, Tanby, Yeppoon and Zilzie areas at 9.30am.

Ergon was able to switch around the damaged equipment and restore supply to all but 460 customers by 9.48am.
