Rate lift another blow to budget

ROCKHAMPTON'S Vicki Harberger let out a sigh of disappointment yesterday when she heard interest rates had lifted by 25 basis points to 3.25%.

“It's not good news,” said the mother of two who bought her Lakes Creek home four years ago.

Vicki, 29, said combined with the recent increase on her Rockhampton Regional Council bill the extra costs were set to take a toll.

The Reserve Bank of Australia raised the level of interest rates at its board meeting yesterday.
