Re-create your dream holiday to win a CQ getaway
FAMILIES across the region are being urged to keep their holiday dreams alive amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Capricorn Enterprise recently launched its Holiday at Home competition, encouraging Central Highlands residents to recreate their favourite holiday experience from their own backyards.
Each week, one lucky entrant will win a Family Boredom Buster prize pack filled with prizes from local businesses including kids games and activities, a takeaway restaurant voucher, family tour or attraction passes, doughnut making kits and more.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll said it was a great way to support local tourism businesses who were “seriously impacted”.
“It is an incredibly important time to show our appreciation of local businesses and the experiences they have shared with our families over many years,” she said.
“They were the first to close and will be the last industry to ramp back up again, so they need all the help we can give.”
Many tourism operators and businesses across the region have jumped on board to offer prizes, including Rubyvale’s Miners Heritage Walk-in Mine.
Owner Kerrie Wilson said the business has already been closed for a month during what was usually a busy season.
“The last few months have been very trying for everyone in tourism,” she said.
“We usually have so many international tourists leading up to the start of our season, and that just stopped dead.”
Mrs Wilson said the ‘book now, visit later’ support would give them the boost they needed to make it through the coronavirus pandemic.
“We feel very grateful to Capricorn Enterprise for allowing us to be a part of this fun project,” she said.
“To know they are there supporting our businesses and keeping our products in everyone’s mind is reassuring to us.
“To plan, book now and visit later for your next holiday gives us all the boast we need to know that when this is over, we can all hit the ground running and gives our visitors something to look forward to.”
Whether it’s relaxing in the backyard resort, fossicking for garden treasures, sharing the thrills of a wildlife adventure, fantasy fishing in the home or cooking up a culinary storm with a pretend creation from a favourite restaurant, get creative for a chance to win.
“Our region has so much to offer in terms of education and wonder to inspire our youngest residents and we are looking forward to seeing many backyard escapades over the coming weeks,” Ms Carroll said.
“We will all eventually get through this tough time and the key right now is to stay healthy, continue dreaming, keep exploring and start planning all the things you would like to do within our top-notch destination once restrictions are eased.”
