READERS DISCUSS: What to do when you see an amber light?

POLICE are urging drivers to take their foot off the accelerator when they see a yellow traffic light, for the sake of road safety.

But what do you do when you see an amber light; put your foot down or take your foot off the accelerator?

Sharron Payne: I stay at the same speed. Whether I stop depends how close to the lights I am when the light changes.

Anita Louise: First thing I do is look in the mirror, if the vehicle behind me looks like they aren't stopping nor am I. Or there'd be an accident.

Matt Spencer: Its a situational thing, i refuse to slam my brakes on in heavy traffic because thats just stupid. Im not going to endanger my life or anyone else's just to avoid a ticket.

Yvette Renton: I was always taught. If it is safe to stop then do so but if uts not safe keep going.

Adam Cook: Running a yellow light should not be illegal regardless but if you are not all the way through the traffic lights before it goes red that's when the penalties should start.Grammar and spelling as originally posted.
