READERS DISCUSS: Paid parking in Rockhampton CBD
PAID parking will soon be introduced at two car parks in Rockhampton's CBD.
Users of the Pilbeam Theatre car park and the car park on the corner of Derby and Alma streets will be required to pay for parking from September 29.
We asked The Morning Bulletin's Facebook users for their thoughts.
Here are some of the more than 40 comments posted.
Christopher Hunt: Woohoo. Even more places that make it harder to park in a town that's already impossible to find convenient parking for those of us who have to work in the CBD area.
Lesley Goltz: What a load of rubbish. Won't solve CBD parking because those parks aren't convenient for shoppers; so all it will do is encourage workers who use those parks to go and park in parks closer to shops as they won't want to pay, thereby creating more of a parking problem for shoppers.
Susan Tanner: It will make it very expensive for theatre users, especially through the eisteddfods and dance festival. People who use the theatre should be exempt.
Lauren Jensen: Another money grab.
Do you think paid parking at Pilbeam Theatre and corner of Derby and Alma Streets will solve CBD parking issues?

This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
Ric Simon: As a city worker, I think you are going to push the people out of the few long-term parking areas and they will join the crazy two-hour shuffle and clog up the limited parking in the city. Sadly, you just stuffed up something that was working, all to make a few bucks.
Suzette Olson: Does this apply out of trading hours, eg theatre users at night?
Debra Pearce: Silly idea for paid parking when clearly there isn't enough free parking in the CBD area in the first place.
Pamela Prince: Shoppers will go elsewhere or go without, or walk further, lol.
Greg McCormack: Thanks to all the whingers and whiners about the lack of parking in the CBD, well done, bravo.
