WHEN wheelchair-bound Rose Short's only form of transport broke down, she was forced to call a taxi, but what happened next shocked her.
Rose prepared to board the taxi with her motorised wheelchair and handed her subsidy card to the driver who said it was faulty.
Baffled, Rose took the taxi home and paid the full fare as she had no other means of transport.
Knowing her disability subsidy card did not expire until 2017 she called the head office to check on that.
To Rose's surprise, she was told her card was in working condition and she was not the first person to have her subsidy card refused by Rockhampton taxi drivers.
Shirley Buchanan - This happened to my sister who has a disability. I rang the taxi company who offered to get the offending taxi driver to drop around the difference in the cab fair in cash they appreciated call and made it clear that should not happen and were very apologetic.
Carol van Egmond - I called a cab in rocky on a rainy day, hobbled out to the cab, was hoping the cab driver could open the door so I wouldn't get so wet, no such luck, got in the cab soaked, said to the cab driver, bit wet out there, he said. yes... .certainly wouldn't want to be out in that today. I said ....yes I can see that.. Lol.. He didn't get it.
Taxi driver in Dubai took me to hospital after a fall and stayed with me all day at the hospital to make sure I was ok and refused to take any money from me. What a difference.

Jody Hodda - sorry to say but a lot of drivers here are so rude and arrogant. they do nothing for the business except drive people away. I have come across some rude people. Not to mention rip offs.

Jess Labbett - Do all those that have these issues with drivers report them? Take down the cab number, time and details of the fare and call it in and report them. Not every taxi driver is the same. There are a very slim few who will go out of their way to help and do the right thing everytime. Not every driver is out to rip people or be rude.
