READER'S VIEW: Horses win races, not jockeys

A SHEILA jockey has been lucky enough to ride the winner of the Melbourne Cup and what does she do? Has a whinge.

I'm getting a bit sick and tired of hearing sheilas whinge.

I've ridden horses all my life and raced them for 20 years.

I'll explain something to this sheila that she should already know.

Horses win races, not jockeys.

Mostly, once a horse knows what to do, all a jockey has to do is not fall off.

There's absolutely no reason a sheila can't be as good a jockey as any male. I know, I learnt tricks off sheilas.

Having said that, a lot of horses lose because they are ridden badly.

Being a bad jockey isn't the exclusive domain of males; sheilas are bad jockeys too.

But one thing I do know about sheilas is they've taken over the job of the "whinging Pom". They can't even shut their gob and enjoy the moment.
