Matt Golinksi to be among celebrity chefs at beef fest
WHEN Matt Golinksi rolls into Rockhampton for Beef Australia, steak won't be the only thing on his mind.
The renowned Australian chef also plans to sneak in a quick fishing trip while he's in the region with hopes of reeling in a few good catches before he cooks up a storm at Beef Australia from May 4 to 9.
Matt is one of 13 Australian and international celebrity chefs who will cook for diners in the International Restaurant throughout the week and feature in daily live cooking demonstrations.
Matt, who is well known as one of the original team members of the popular, long-running Ready Steady Cook television series and a founding partner of the successful Rolling Dolmade catering company on the Sunshine Coast, said he couldn't wait to join the Beef Australia celebrations.
"I am very excited," Matt said.
"This will be my first time cooking at Beef Australia but from what I've heard, it's a great event and a great week.
"I've been up to Rockhampton a few times before and have made a few friends up there so it'll be good to catch up.
"I'm also trying to fit in a fishing trip while I'm up there."
With a passion for simple, produce-driven cuisine based on seasonal, fresh, local ingredients, Matt will be right at home in the Beef Capital.
"It's a good idea of Beef Australia's to give the chefs the challenge of cooking beef in ways people might not have seen before," he said.
"I'm cooking lunch and dinner on the Friday for 100 people at each sitting and am also doing a cooking demonstration with grilled hanger steak, smoked peppers and gnocchi.
"There will also be a good contrast between the Australian and international chefs. I'm good mates with Alastair McLeod and also Massimo Mele so we'll be able to bounce ideas off each other."
On Thursday, May 7, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm Matt will give a cooking demonstration at the Beef Australia Ergon Energy Stage.
On Friday, May 8, Matt will provide a lunch service and then a dinner service with Alvin Leung.
