Ray White realtor's rapid rise into the rankings

SIX years ago David Bell sold his first house as a real estate agent.

Today he leads Ray White Rockhampton, which was this week ranked by a leading real estate magazine as the 15th best sales office in Australia.

Situated next to Bunnings on Yaamba Rd, it was the only real estate agency in the Rockhampton region that made the cut for Real Estate Business's inaugural top 50 sales offices.

The crew of Ray White Rockhampton has won a slew of awards over the years, but this has been their best achievement yet.

Even the normally media-shy principal came out of his shell to heap praise on his team.

"This is something the team has won, it wouldn't have happened without them," David said. "They teach me something new every day."

In the 2011/2012 financial year Ray White Rockhampton's seven salespeople, including David, sold $98 million worth of properties.

They sold 310, or 76%, of the properties they listed.

Regional Business Australia judged agencies by the value and number of properties sold, along with the time it took to sell them.

The magazine used information from real estate database RP Data.

David said there was no better job than helping people get their dream homes, particularly families.

The former mechanic attributed much of his success as a principal to his wife Katrina, who works with him.

"She's an even keel for me," David said. "She thinks of a lot of things I don't."

David is expecting even better results this year after hiring three more real estate agents in the past five months.
