Moranbah teenager has The Voice and wows Joel Madden
MORANBAH'S Taila Gouge wowed the judges with her stunning performance of Gretchen Wilson's Redneck Woman on The Voice last night.
The talented teenager now advances directly to the next stage of the competition, where the public gets the opportunity to vote for their favourite performer.
Ms Gouge's bubbly personality shone through in last night's showing, where she outsung the Northern Territory's Holly Tapp and R'n'B soul artist Doug Williams.
She clearly impressed mentor Joel Madden.
"A star is born," Madden told Ms Gouge, 17, in his post-performance comments.
Will.i.am also said he'd been blown away.
"I can't believe they said those things," Ms Gouge said. "This is such an amazing journey."
Heading into the final stages of competition, Ms Gouge is buoyed by the support of her home town.
Posters of support have been put up around the mining community and schools have posted messages wishing her the best on their notice boards.
Ms Gouge joins former Biloela and Rockhampton performer Isaac McGovern in the final stages.
Both are coached by Madden.
