Reds' former Victory star to face old side

JESSE Makarounas has been on the other side of the fence when it comes to the rivalry between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory, so he knows just what to expect tonight when the two sides clash at Coopers Stadium.

Makarounas played 36 times for the Victory and was involved in a couple of games between the traditionally bitter rivals.

The 22-year-old Adelaide midfielder said the games between the two teams were always fiery encounters.

"I don't think there is a lot of love lost between Victorians and South Australians,” Makarounas (pictured) said yesterday.

"But playing for Victory we knew it was always going to be a tough game and a hostile crowd.”

Makarounas said despite only signing from the Victory in the off-season, he had no inside information.

"I have got some good friends who still play there but they're keeping pretty tight-lipped about everything,” he said.
