Queensland Reds on high alert in South Africa

HISTORY stands against Queensland beating the Bulls in Pretoria this Sunday morning (AEST).

No Australian team has won at Loftus Versfeld Stadium since 2007.

The Western Force got within just one point in round six, losing 25-24, five-eighth Handre Pollard kicking a 45m penalty goal in the final minute of the game.

Pollard is capable of kicking goals from past the 50m line, giving the Reds a huge task to try and stop him.

Reds centre (pictured) Anthony Fainga'a said his team, languishing in second-last position with a 1-6 record, must be focused for the full 80 minutes if it was to record a rare win at altitude.

That means a repeat of the ill-discipline second-rower James Horwill showed in last Friday night's 23-15 loss to the Rebels when he was sent off for the second time this season, will not be tolerated.

Horwill is serving a one-game ban and there was no suggestion he would be flown over for the second game of the Reds' South African tour, against the Cheetahs the following Sunday.

James Tuttle, a member of the Reds Elite Development Squad has been brought into the 27-man squad as cover for five-eighth Quade Cooper, who fractured his scapula against the Rebels.

Another EDS member, Adam Korczyk is a replacement for No.8 Jake Schatz, who ruptured a tendon in his elbow in the same match.

Tom Murday, who made his Reds debut earlier this year, has been brought in for Horwill, while second-rower Rob Simmons may play his first game of the year after overcoming a shoulder injury.
