Relive the 80s at Rocky Music Bowl
A LINE-UP of some of Australia's biggest acts has been announced this week to perform at Rockhampton's Music Bowl in October for a huge night of iconic anthems.
Sea FM and Empire Touring announced the inaugural SEA FM Live concert this week, which will see 12 of the country's legendary musicians from the 80s gracing the stage and taking a whole generation back to a time when rock 'n roll was a way of life and there wasn't a camera phone in sight.
Dragon, 1927, Ross Wilson, Wendy Matthews, Swanee, Rose Tattoo, Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera), Eurogliders, Thirsty Merc, Mark Gable, Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Shane Howard (Goanna) will rock the beef capital on October 8.
Sea FM's Banksy and Pinky will come together to host the concert and are pumped for the event.
"It is fantastic for Sea FM to be involved in such a massive event for Rockhampton," Banksy said.
"SEA FM Live is going to be like one massive snapshot of your life. Seeing the acts responsible for some of the biggest musical memories of your life - you don't want to let an opportunity like this slip by," Pinky added.
Featuring Grace Knight on vocals and Bernie Lynch on guitar and vocals, Eurogliders took the charts by storm in the 1980s.
Audiences were blown away and Grace Knight captivated fans with her 'manic ballerina' stage persona.
Thirsty Merc are an Australian pop rock band formed in 2002 by Rai Thistlethwayte (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Phil Stack (bass guitar), Karl Robertson (drums) and Matthew Baker (guitar) selling more than 200,000 albums, touring extensively around Australia and receiving national radio airplay.
Dragon formed in Auckland in 1972, relocating to Sydney in 1975, led by enigmatic lead singer Marc Hunter and now led by his brother Todd Hunter.
They had the nation in mass sing-alongs with their No. 1 smash hits, Are You Old Enough?, Still in Love with You, Rain, O Zambezi and 1977's hit summer anthem, April Sun in Cuba.
Shane Howard is one of Australia's most important and influential writers and singers - he combines a deep understanding of poetic and musical folk traditions.
Shane Howard also has the ability to capture the essential of the spirit of Australia, through his words and music. None more so than in the anthem, Solid Rock
