UPDATE: QGAir Rescue 500 winched two hikers from Mt Barney today.

One of the hikers was a 20-year-old man who fell while bushwalking.

The hikers contacted authorities to ask for help late yesterday evening, but due to low light the rescue had to be postponed to morning.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services technical rescue firefighters and a paramedic were dropped off at the scene by the rescue helicopter and State Emergency Service volunteers walked up the mountain to deliver food and blanket supplies for the crews and hikers to camp on the mountain overnight.

The hikers were safely delivered to paramedics waiting at Logan Road before Rescue 500 returned to collect the nine emergency services personnel who had spent the night.
