Respected Rockhampton gynaecologist dies at 90

FORMER Rockhampton obstetrician Dr Conrad Primmer (pictured) will be farewelled by family and friends at a funeral on Friday.

The well-respected Dr Primmer achieved many things in his 90 years and played a special part in the Rockhampton community for many reasons, including the delivering of thousands of babies.

In a Morning Bulletin report in 1993, Dr Primmer told of his love for Rockhampton.

He was the first and only gynaecologist in Rockhampton for seven years.

A talented sportsman, Dr Primmer played rugby union for Australia in 1951 and in later years played a key role in the game locally.

In a remarkable life, he was in the Bay of Tokyo aboard a Navy Corvette when the Peace Treaty was signed after World War II.
