TEA lovers, tapas tasters and party goers - Kanangra Heights on Tanby road is Yeppoon's newest restaurant, function and wedding venue, also offering beautiful High Teas.

Take it from someone who owns more tea pots and china tea cups than your average tea drinker.

Kanangra's High Tea is five star, and it seems visitor ratings on its Facebook and Trip Advisor pages also agree!

The food is traditional and tasty (freshly baked with the right mix of savoury and sweet, with homemade scones on the side), perfectly made tea, gorgeous crockery and decor, lovely service and a 'beautiful view', which is by the way, the Aboriginal meaning for 'Kanangra'.

Connie and Tom have lovingly restored this venue, which many locals will recall from its original opening in 1983, built by Liz and Hugh (RIP), whose wonderful memories are captured in a book displaying the construction of their restaurant dream and decades of great times.

With only four owners in its history, Connie and Tom purchased the seven acre property in 2012 with the intention to renovate the house and enjoy the views, but after hosting a thirty year re-union party for Liz, followed by a pizza night for Connie's daughter Danielle, word of mouth quickly spread for function requests, and so was the beginning of their 'accidental' venture into becoming restaurateurs!

After major renovations post TC Marcia in February 2015, it took the family a year to re-build to what it is today, with many of the original gardens revealed after years of neglect, but now creating the tranquil surrounds for visitors to enjoy.

Today, gorgeous freshly made floral arrangements decorate the tables which have been prepared by Danielle's Lilly & Lotus event styling business, making this place truly a complementary family affair. Surplus flowers from her arrangements are donated to Excel Care to bring joy to those in need, which is a reflection of this family's attention to kindness and community.

Kanangra Heights offers a choice of three function areas and the option to have exclusive use of the entire seven acre property. Packages are fully flexible and are tailored to suit ones requirements.

They've also partnered with local accommodation including Echelon Yeppoon and The Coast Motel to provide special packages for group guests.

Kanangra is also open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday as well as evenings from Thursday to Sunday.

Bookings are absolutely essential however, as the restaurant is unavailable for individual dining if a function is being held, so best to phone ahead before you take the 5.5km journey from the Tanby road roundabout from Yeppoon. Enjoy!

Until next time...
