Riders to take on new trails in enduro at First Turkey

MOUNTAIN BIKES: Riders will get to race on some new trails when they line up for the third and final round of the Giant Rockhampton Enduro Series on Sunday.

About 40 riders are expected for the Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club event, which will be staged at First Turkey Mountain Bike Reserve from 7.30am.

It consists of a series of timed downhill competitive stages, with times accumulated to determine the riders' final placings.

The club's Joel Robinson said there would be racing in the elite men, sport men, open ladies, masters, novice and junior (11-15 years) classes.

He expects Jake Keleher and Cody White to feature in the elite class, whose riders will complete four stages.

"We've never raced some of these trails before so we're hoping that might attract some new riders,” Robinson said.

"One trail is really good fun, with flowy jumps and berms which will probably end up being the favourite in the park.

"The other one, for elite riders only, is almost the opposite. It is really tough and really technical.”

Registrations are online only and close at 8pm on Saturday.
