8.25am: Reports of traffic lights near Stocklands were flashing orange only.

8.10am: Reports of a huge tree across road Upper Dawson Road and Penlington Street.

7.35am: POLICE are urging people across the Rockhampton region to stay indoors where possible.

With more than 300mm of rainfall since 9am yesterday, conditions outdoors are hazardous.

"People need to be sensible," Inspector Mel Adams, of Rockhampton police, said.

"If you don't need to be on the roads stay at home.

"We are having a high volume of calls in relation to flooded roads.

"Power lines are also down.

"It's very dangerous moving around.  Unless you need to be somewhere, the advice is to stay inside."

Insp Adams said many motorists were driving too fast for conditions.

"At this stage the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd is open, but people need to drive with caution," she said.

"There is water on the road."

She said some drivers were hitting water at inappropriate speeds.

7.30am: FRW advises that parts of North Rockhampton will be without water for several hours this morning as crews continue working to identify a large trunk water main break in the vicinity of the Park Avenue and Moores Creek Rd area.

The water main break which was identified yesterday evening has caused levels in the Thozet Rd and Yaamba Rd Reservoir to drop to a level that is unable to supply many residents located throughout the Berserker, Koongal, Lakes Creek and part of the Frenchville area.

At this stage efforts to identify the exact location of the trunk main break are being hampered by the heavy rainfall and high flows in streams and creeks at locations adjacent to FRW's water trunk infrastructure. As this work continues, FRW is also attempting to redirect water from other unaffected parts of the Rockhampton Water Supply Scheme to the impacted locations.

Residents are urged to use drinking water sparingly during this period of limited or no supply and stay tuned to local media for further updates as this work continues.

7.25am: This is the latest road closure advice The Bulletin has from Rockhampton Regional Council.
