Farah vows to fight for his future at Souths

OFF-contract veteran hooker Robbie Farah faces an uncertain future at South Sydney with the club undecided if they'll retain him beyond this season.

Farah has been overlooked for a starting berth as the Rabbitohs go with Damien Cook and Adam Doueihi at No. 9 and halfback respectively.

The former NSW Origin star has been named on an extended bench for Saturday's clash against the Panthers in Penrith, but he is unlikely to make the final 17-man team.

This has cast a doubt over Farah's long-term prospects at Redfern.

It's understood the Souths coaching staff have told the former premiership-winning West Tiger he will play a role in the NRL side this season.

Farah's manager Sam Ayoub also declared the English Super League or retirement isn't on the veteran hooker's radar.

"Of course Robbie is frustrated and he wants to play first grade, but he is being a professional," Ayoub said.

"If that means he has to sit back and get his opportunity, he will do that.

"He is one of the best trainers in the club and his time will come, because he is a quality and a class player.

"He is working hard to force his way back into the team and there is no doubt in my mind that will happen at some stage this season."

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Souths are in the process of extending Doueihi - the boom rookie keeping Farah out of the NRL ranks.

The Lebanon World Cup and Australian rugby schoolboy star will make his top grade debut against Penrith on Saturday.

The Rabbitohs believe Doueihi has a bright future and they want to fend off rival clubs circling for his signature.

The likes of Canterbury, the Roosters and the Wests Tigers all expressed interest in the 19-year-old before he signed with Souths.
