Rockhampton Airport evacuated after fire alarm was set off

THE Rockhampton Airport was evacuated this morning after a false alarm went off.

Rockhampton Regional Council CEO Evan Pardon said at 6am the alarm was within the fire detection system in the main passenger terminal at airport.

As the alarm occurred before the operational hours of the on-site fire crews, firefighters were sent to the airport.

The airport was evacuated as a precautionary measure while the alarm the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service were on the way.
