Rockhampton business takes out state award

DARYL and Julie Newsome were sure to be a winning team, with several decades of experience in the tyre sales industry.

Daryl has worked in the industry since he was 18 years old, working at his father's tyre shop - Ken Newsome Tyres.

His wife Julie joined him in the family business taking on sales and administration.

The Rockhampton couple made the decision to purchase the tyre shop 12 years ago, and have been going from strength to strength since.

This year saw the husband and wife business duo win a state award for their hard work.

Newsome Tyres was awarded the highest sales award for Cooper Tires, out of 65 stores that sell the product in Queensland.

"We've been selling Cooper Tires for 26 years and never won before; it was great to get recognition for all the hard work that us and the staff put in," Julie said.

Julie said the win was down to the loyalty of their customers, their hard working staff and the quality of their product.
