Rockhampton residents warm up to winter weather
HOODIES, chocolate and good company were the perfect combination for students Ruth Beaumont and Gemma Bleney on a Rockhampton winter's day.
Taking a break at the Giddy Goat on Wednesday, the friends said it was a Wednesday tradition to meet for sweets and catch-ups in between classes.
"It's our favourite dish here," Gemma said.
When asked what was one of their top tips to stay warm in winter, Ruth said a bonfire was always good.
We also asked Facebook users what they thought was the best thing about winter in Rockhampton, and there were plenty of responses.
Here's what you had to say:
Joanna Palmer: It's good cuddle weather. Hot chocolate with marshmallows, slow-cooked dinners, soups and comfort food.
Mathew Ross: Clear skies! Great temperature and ideal for picnics.
Simon Vickery: Summer is nearly here!
Becky B Bowen: We get great sunsets.
Lisa Alexander: Love hot showers and early nights. Usually I just use cold-water showers the rest if the year.
Joanne Louise Weston: Because it still feels like summer.
Elizabeth Payne: It doesn't reach 40 degrees.
Nick Moffat: Because it's better up here than down in Victoria.
Trixie Dee: Can't think of anything good. I hate, hate, hate the cold. Bring on spring.
Amanda Danda Williams: Because it brings family together into one room.
Natalya Jade Hatchman: It's only winter in Stockland.
