Rockhampton water tastes best in Central Queensland

ROCKHAMPTON tap water has reclaimed its title as Central Queensland's top drop.

Water from Rockhampton Regional Council's Glenmore Water Treatment Plant won the Orica Australia Best of the Best Queensland Water Taste Test.

Although Rockhampton tap water won the Central Queensland title in 2012, it was ousted by Gladstone Regional Council's Springs Road Water Treatment Plant in Agnes Water last year.

The Queensland Water Directorate conference used a scientifically tested Water Tasting Wheel when testing the tap water.

Rockhampton will face five other regional finalists from across Queensland for the grand final prize to be held at the Institute of Public Works Engineers Queensland State Conference in October.

The chair of council's Water Committee, Councillor Greg Belz, said council was proud Fitzroy River Water's water treatment provided such a great quality product to their customers around the clock.

"I would like to congratulate the team at FRW for their achievement," Cr Belz said.
