Rocky ahead when it comes to house sales

ROCKHAMPTON recorded 157 more house sales than Mackay in the final quarter of 2013, new figures show.

Australian Property Monitor figures released this week showed 436 home sales in Rockhampton for the December quarter, well up on Mackay's 279.

And Rockhampton's median house price also rose from $330,000 to $335,000, while Mackay's dropped from $425,000 to $412,000.

Domain Property Week sales consultant and MAX Account manager Rebecca Gallehawk said the Rockhampton market had continued strongly in 2014.

"Compared to previous years, we've seen a great start to the year in terms of the amount of listings," Ms Gallehawk said.

"Our agents are excited about the positive response they have been receiving from the market as well."
