Rocky CEO awaits his fate
AFTER a tense six-day wait Rockhampton Regional Council CEO Evan Pardon will discover his fate at today's council meeting.
Councillor Stephen Schwarten came good on his election promise to seek the termination of Mr Pardon's contract at council's first formal meeting on Wednesday.
Cr Schwarten based the motion on what he called Mr Pardon's "ineptitude and incompetence".
Councillors were as impassive as Mr Pardon when Cr Schwarten made the announcement.
But Cr Schwarten said he would not be canvassing support for the motion from councillors.
It won't be the only controversial topic on the table, with Cr Rose Swadling to propose council stop legal proceedings against a local business while newly elected councillors were brought up to date on the topic.
The case against Rockhampton Building Approval's Wayne Knobel relates to development at the Rockhampton Golf Course.
The council will also today discuss the summary budget management report for the financial year up until April 30.
It will be the first of their discussions regarding the council's finances before they have a closed meeting tomorrow on the council's long-term financial forecast and budget implications for the 2012 to 2013 budget.
Mayor Margaret Strelow has already expressed her determination to keep rate rises to an affordable level close to CPI.
