Rocky farewells two great talents
2016 saw the loss of two Rockhampton Little Theatre stalwarts and foundation members, Joe Hannan and Val Hardman. RLT members past and present recently got together to remember these two amazing people, who were involved in all aspects of theatre over their many years in RLT.
Joe Hannan joined RLT in 1979. He was involved in over 50 productions including Sex and Other Frustrations”, The Importance of being Ernest, Somethings Afoot, Sailing South, Desperados, Puss in Boots and the list goes on.
His last production was 12 Angry Men in July 2014, aged 79. Joe, and his sister Joan (also recently passed away), never missed a production and were always on hand to assist, most recently on front of house where they would greet patrons with their fabulous smiles.
Val Harman was awarded Telecom's Advance Australia Award of Merit in 1986 and an OAM in 1995 for her service in theatre. She was involved with RLT from 1956 through to 1997. Val's productions included Cinderella, Dimboola, A Diary of Anne Frank, The Amorous Prawn, The Odd Couple, Chase me Comrade, Blythe Spirit, Farewell Brisbane Ladies, Shut your Eyes and Think of England, No Sex Please - We're British and so many more.
Both Joe and Val were involved in all aspects of theatre including backstage, lighting, sound, costumes, painting, construction, front of house, publicity, acting, producing and directing. They also both served on the Committee of RLT.
RLT is always looking for new and returning members.
