Rocky homes ransacked

A KAWANA family was in shock today after returning from a Christmas break to find their house ransacked and thousands of dollars worth of property stolen.

Police said the theft was one of a series across Rockhampton during the Christmas period and they’re warning people to remain vigilant.

Rockhampton CIB officers are investigating.

"There have been a series of break and enters," a Rockhampton police spokesman said.

He said at least two of them involved the theft of "a substantial amount of property".

It’s understood more than $10,000 worth of property was taken from the Carlton Street property.

As well as that break-in, which was discovered about 6.30am, the other signficant break-in occured on Kershaw Street, North Rockhampton, and was reported to police later in the morning.

It’s understood this family had also been away for the Christmas period.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
