Rocky rockers La Mont join Wolfmother on national tour
INTERNATIONALLY-acclaimed band Wolfmother and Rockhampton's La Mont have a few things in common.
They're both Australian, they've both worked through changes with band members, and they'll both be on stage for Rockhampton audiences next week.
And in a coup for local band La Mont, they have been chosen to join Wolfmother on their national tour in February.
Lead singer and guitarist Mik Guinane said they were stoked to be chosen by the band.
"I was waiting to hear back if we were going to be accepted for the Rocky show, and then to be told we were wanted for four of them … it was amazing," he said.
"This is just what we needed as another step forward.
"I just want to put on a good show for people from Bundaberg to Townsville that haven't heard us before."
La Mont will travel to Wolfmother's first gig in Bundaberg this Wednesday, before heading back to Rockhampton for their Thursday show at Flamingo's On Quay.
They will then join the band on stage in Airlie Beach and Townsville on Friday and Saturday.
La Mont are also celebrating another achievement, with their song Lost In Time sitting in tenth position on the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project's (AMRAP) Great Southern Charts.
AMRAP allows community radio stations to request music from their library to play on the air across Australia.
Michael sent in their music two weeks ago, and Lost In Time is already the tenth most ordered song.
La Mont has also introduced some new additions this year, after commitments from original members led to them having to leave the band.
The band now includes Mik, Ben Hughes on keys, synth and vocals, Clay Hooper on lead guitar, Dylan Hooper on bass and vocals, and Logan Brewster on drums.
