Rocky service station robbed

A man is in police custody after police say he robbed one service station and attempted to rob another on Saturday in Rockhampton.

Detective Senior Constable Richard Millard Richard Millard , of Rockhampton CIB, said police believed both robberies, at the Caltex station on the corner of William and George Street and the Choice Petroleum station on Gladstone Road, were connected.

Detective Senior Constable Millard said a 25-year-old man was in custody and helping police with their inquiries.

He was expected to be charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery and armed robbery and appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow. April 4

Police said a man entered the Caltex station at 5.30am with his face concealed and tried to rob the attendant of cash but left without taking any money.

At 8.30pm a man who fitted a similar description entered the Choice service station with his face covered and demanded money while threatening attendant with a knife.

This time he obtained cash and rode away on a bike.

Police said both attendants were not hurt.
