Rocky truck driver dies when rig rolls

ROCKHAMPTON truck driver Noel Francis Shepherd died tragically when his semi-trailer overturned near Miles on Sunday.

Mr Shepherd, 62, was en route to deliver a load of vegetables when his truck veered on to the wrong side of the Leichhardt Highway and rolled.

A passing motorist called triple zero at 2.48am. The crash happened about 30kms north of Miles.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene but Mr Shepherd was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was trapped in the mangled wreckage for 10 hours until a crane righted the truck.

Mr Shepherd lived in the suburb of Berserker.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Morning Bulletin would like to offer family and friends the opportunity to pay tribute to Noel's life.
