CRICKET: Rockhampton's Jess Jonassen bagged a total of three wickets as the Brisbane Heat scored back-to-back wins over the Hobart Hurricanes.

The left-arm orthodox spinner took 2-17 from her four overs in the Heat's comprehensive eight-wicket win on Sunday and backed it up with 1-11 from three overs in the 42-run win at Blundstone Arena yesterday.

Captain Kirby Short carved out an elegant 79 off 55 deliveries and her batting performance was complemented by another disciplined performance from the Heat's bowlers.

The early loss of the dynamic Beth Mooney did little to deter the Heat's focus, as Short picked up the reins to dispatch the hosts' bowling attack to all parts in a quality display, before the bowlers combined to extinguish the opposition's fight in rapid fashion.

Defending 169 for the win, the Heat bundled the Hurricanes out for 126 in the 18th over.

That made if four wins in a row for the Heat, who have moved into the top three on the WBBL ladder after eight matches.

Their charge to the head of the competition will resume in Mackay on Friday and Saturday, where they will face a determined Melbourne Stars outfit under lights in two games at Harrup Park.
