Rocky's love rat jailed

JASON Anthony Young bashed and held a knife to the throat of his former partner because she wouldn't return a $6500 engagement ring.

It wasn't the only relationship that didn't work out for the Rockhampton Casanova - he's expecting his eighth child to a seventh different woman.

But his violent streak yesterday landed him behind bars after he admitted to assaulting two of his former partners just this year and being involved in a hit-and-run accident.

Young, 34, yesterday pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, common assault and disqualified driving.

Police prosecutor Barbara Barton said on February 21 Young's former partner woke to find him standing inside her Wandal home in darkness.

Young fed the dog before calling her insulting names and accusing her of “kicking” him out.

He grabbed the woman's head and pushed her, punched her to the eye and held a knife to her throat.

As Ms Barton read out these facts yesterday, Young tried to muffle a short giggle, before being reprimanded by acting Magistrate Mark Morrow for making undue noise in his court.

Ms Barton continued, saying Young, who has a bald head marked with a number of tattoos, also kicked a hole in the wall and smashed a window before leaving the house.

When the police arrived at 12.10pm, the woman already had a large lump above her eye.

Defence solicitor Brian McGowran said it was hard not to see Young going to jail after his actions.

He told the court his client was upset because he wanted the engagement ring he gave the woman back.

On September 14 at 11.35am, police said Young attended the Gracemere home of another former partner because he wanted to see his children.

He threw a mobile phone at her, hitting her in the foot, and said “I dare you to call the police”. Young was observed leaving the residence and was later tracked down at a Yeppoon hotel.

On September 12 Young was passenger in a car during a hit and run incident.

Young is currently in a relationship with the expectant mother of his eighth child.

Young will be released from a 12-month prison sentence on parole on January 30 next year.
