Rogic remains humble despite rapid rise in football world

TOMAS Rogic is keeping a level head despite all the attention he is receiving over his rapid rise to the ranks of international football.

The 19-year-old Mariners rising star earned his first Socceroos cap as a second-half substitute in the recent friendly against South Korea, and is likely to get further caps in the coming East Asian Cup qualifying tournament.

But he says while the attention he is getting is nice, he will not let it get to him.

"I try not to take too much notice of it all (the media attention), because if I was to do something wrong it would just work against me," Rogic said.

"I just try to read the positives into it. I try to stay away from the media as much as I can … sometimes it is hard."

Rogic is in Socceroos coach Holger Osieck's provisional 25-man squad for the qualifiers to be held in Hong Kong from December 1-9.

Australia will compete against Taiwan, Guam, Hong Kong and North Korea in the qualifying tournament.

The East Asian Cup will be held in South Korea in July next year.
