Council goes roundabout to ensure bikes can share safely
CONSTRUCTION is underway to improve the ever-busy Feez St roundabout in North Rockhampton.
Rockhampton Regional Council expects the $100,000 project to provide major benefits for both motorists and cyclists.
Chair of council's infrastructure committee, councillor Tony Williams, said works would include widening of exit lanes onto Moores Ck Rd, as well as an upgrade for part of Kerrigan St and the roundabout entry.
For cyclists, the good news includes an additional concrete path link.
"The footpath from Bruigom St to the roundabout is a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists and at present there is no link from the crossing at Kerrigan St to the dedicated bike lane on Moores Ck Rd," Cr Williams said.
"This will be added as part of this project.
"When completed, this project will mean some very positive changes for those who use this roundabout."
Construction work is already underway and should be completed by the middle of next month.
