RQAS Rockhampton showcase local artwork with launch tonight

THE ROYAL Queensland Art Society Rockhampton Branch will officially launch the art exhibition Passions from the Palette tonight, which will be held at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre in the gallery.

The artworks are the culmination of 12 months of preparation by local artists and all artwork included in the exhibition is available for sale until Sunday, November 9.

The collection consists of 100 pieces of artwork on offer.

A trio of violinists will be playing from 6.15pm.

"This year our challenge section has proved popular with 14 members nominating in the 'MiArt Palette Knife Challenge'. The challenge will be judged by well known local artist Carmen Beasley-Drake with the winner being announced at the official opening," President Lyn Howard said.
