Sarah set for Miss Universe

SHE'S not only got the beauty, but the brains to match.

And Rockhampton girl, Sarah McCulloch proved this recently by securing one of six places in the official Queensland final for the Miss Universe Competition.

A CQUniversity graduate, the 24-year-old said she'd always thought about entering the prestigious competition and was quite shocked when she heard the news she'd been accepted.

"It took a month to hear back and by that time I'd almost forgotten," she laughed.

"You always dream about it when you're a little girl but never think it will actually happen so I'm really excited about it."

This was Sarah's first time tackling the catwalk or posing for the cameras.

"I'd never done any modelling before, but a friend encouraged me to do it, so I thought I'd just give it a try and see what happens.

"The organisers from Miss Universe thought it was funny that I had decided to enter Miss Universe as my first pageant because it's such a big competition and I have no experience, but it all worked out very well."

Sarah said 2011 was a big year filled with many highlights including being the new face behind Marketing and Events at the Heritage Hotel Rockhampton.

"My two major priorities for 2012 are my work at the Heritage Hotel, and the Miss Universe Competition," Sarah said.

She will soon be heading off to the official state finals and hopefully win a place in the national final.
