Saturday was Rockhampton's coldest day for seven years
SATURDAY'S temperature dropped to 2.4, the coldest day of the year on record since 2007.
Rockhampton's Bureau of Meteorology observer Damian Ousley said it got down 2.7 in June of 2009 and July 2008.
"The coldest temperature before that was in July 2007, at minus 1.9 degrees," Mr Ousley said.
He said 5.8 degrees was the coldest weather in the beef capital for the month of July last year.
Light morning frost was the forecast for yesterday morning, with possible showers predicted from today until Wednesday.
"If the temperature gets below minus 0.9, it's declared as frost," Mr Ousley said.
"We got down to minus 1.1 out on the ground here at the airport on the 8th of July."
The long-term average temperature for the region in winter was 9.5 degrees, however this year's average was down to 6.6 degrees.
