Sawn-off shotgun used in brazen robbery

A MAN used a single barrel sawn-off shotgun to hold up a Toowoomba bottle shop and is now on the run from police.

Sgt Dan Todd from Toowoomba Police said the man held up the bottle shop at High Street Shopping Centre in Rangeville about 7pm.

The crime took place while the manager was sorting out the till for the night.

He made demands for cash, and when the male attendant complied, he fled the scene with a sum of cash and was last seen heading towards Miebusch St.

No one was injured in the incident.

The male offender was wearing a balaclava, a white hoodie and dark track pants with stripes.

Police are exploring the option the offender may have had a vehicle parked in a nearby street.

Anyone who may have seen a man matching this description or anyone with any information which may assist police with their investigation is urged to contact police.
