Schoolies day one: Eight non-schoolies arrested

THOUSANDS of school leavers began arriving on the Gold Coast last night with many more expected to arrive today as the traditional Schoolies Week celebrations officially begins tonight.

Queensland Police will today be monitoring the influx of teenagers arriving and booking into their accommodation.

Overnight there were no schoolies arrested or fined on the Gold Coast.

There were 8 people arrested on 8 charges which were non-schoolies.

The majority of the non-schoolies arrested related to public nuisance and good order offences.
