$1.34 million lotto won by Qld player yet to be claimed
THE hunt is still on for a millionaire in a remote Far North town.
The winner purchased their ticket from Weipa News and Traders and on Saturday took out the division one prize of $1.34 million, Cairns Post reports.
But the ticketholder is not registered with Winners Circle, so Golden Casket officials have no way of contacting them.
Instead, Golden Casket must wait for the ticketholder to check their entry and come forward to claim their prize.
Weipa News and Traders employee Melissa Ginn said they were expecting an influx of customers into the store.
"I really hope it's one of our regulars," she said.
"It would be wonderful if it's one of those people who is dedicated to playing their numbers."
The Weipa entry was one of three division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3795 on 2 December 2017. Each took home a division one prize of $1,340,376.71.
The Far North Queensland winner is also the 100th division one winner in Queensland so far this calendar year.
Golden Casket spokesman Matt Hart said he was eager to confirm the division one news with Far North Queensland's newest millionaire and urged all Gold Lotto players in the region to check their tickets as soon as possible.
"Our winner could be completely unaware they are now a millionaire. I'm sure the news would immediately cure any Mondayitis they might be feeling today!" he said.
"You may not think it's possible that you are the division one winner we're looking for, but if you purchased an entry in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto draw that you haven't checked yet, you're in with a chance!
"We're urging all players to check their entries as soon as possible and if you discover you are holding the registered division one winning ticket to contact Golden Casket on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize."
