JULIE Martinez, mother of missing Rockhampton man Robert Martinez, believes her son's car was dumped at Gavial Creek two weeks before it was found by police.

Mrs Martinez's tears have dried up and she has turned them into thoughts of frustration as the search for Robert continues.

Yesterday police stopped their line searches around Mt Jim Crow, between Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

Police started searching the area at first light on Wednesday after they received tip-offs from the public through the Crime Stoppers hotline.

However, the search party yesterday continued to search Gavial Creek and the Fitzroy River, near the southern end of Quay St, for Robert Martinez, 26, and his missing friend Chantal Barnett, 27.

Officers were seen digging holes with shovels at Gavial Creek yesterday.

Yesterday, The Morning Bulletin spoke to Julie, who said she still hadn't heard any new information about her son's whereabouts.

She has been putting desperate pleas on Facebook for her son to come home, but she has had no luck with any leads. The two have been missing for more than a month.

Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if you have information.

What is known

  • The two were last seen about March 1.
