Seascapes inspire artist

THE sunshine and seascapes of the Fraser Coast and the Wide Bay have acted as a muse for one Hervey Bay artist.

James Hall's new exhibition, titled Blue Vista, is showing at Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough and he has drawn inspiration from the natural splendour of Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island and Bargara while creating his latest works.

James has seen much of the region in his travels and his experiences and holidays have helped shape his artworks.

He described Blue Vista as a visual narrative of time and light and said the exhibition reflects the way he looks at the natural surrounds of the Wide Bay region both in every day life and while on holiday.

Fraser Island in particular was an inspiration behind his works.

Photography came into play when capturing different scenes on Fraser Island.

James took many different photos at different times of the day to capture the island in several different lights and in many different ways.

James has been an artist for more than 20 years and he uses spatula and brush to create his images.

The seascapes and sky ensure a strong presence of the colour blue in James' works, which contributed to the title of the exhibition, Blue Vista.

Two other exhibitions are also being held at Gatakers Artspace.

They are New Works by Ian and Audrey Gunn and Places in My Art by Hilary Latta.

The exhibitions will continue until January 30.
