Seeing red as Pauline Hanson drops in to Yeppoon races

A FLASH of red was spotted at the Yeppoon Race Day in the form of Pauline Hanson.

The One Nation Party leader stepped off her Jabiru J230 and stepped out for a day of fashions on the field and race calls at the Yeppoon races on Saturday.

Ms Hanson told The Morning Bulletin yesterday that this quick visit to Yeppoon was the second one in six weeks.

"I attended the Yeppoon races with friends and to assure people that I am still fighting for the Great Keppel Island resort to go ahead," she said.

"I have personally written to the Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, and raised it with her in person at the Mt Isa rodeo recently.

"I arrived in Yeppoon on Friday and left Sunday morning. It was the first time I attended the Yeppoon races and what a great day it was, I was very impressed with the effort both men and women put in to their appearance and dress."

Ms Hanson said she received a warm welcome from fellow race-goers.

"I spent a good part of the day meeting and having my photo taken with many of the patrons," Ms Hanson said.

"I was astounded and very humbled with the support I received.

"The most common message given to me was, 'you are only saying what we're thinking, but you have the guts to say it'."

Ms Hanson said visiting regional areas of Queensland was something she'd be doing often in the lead-up to the next federal election.
