Seeonee Park burns will not go ahead

THE weekend's Seeonee Park planned burns have been cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions it but burns for the Caves will go ahead.

Rockhampton Councilor Tony Williams said the burns had been delayed due to a forecast showing windy conditions.

The smoke was expected to reach the Berserker, Nerimbera, Norman Gardens and Frenchville areas.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service's planned burn for Mount Archer National Park on Monday and Tuesday next week is still going ahead, weather permitting.

The aim of the burns are to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorist drive safely to the conditions.
