Self defence system to stay in shape
SHAWN Power has recently returned from completing training in Keysi Fighting Method (KFM), becoming one of only a handful of certified KFM trainers in Australia.
The self defense system was developed only 20 years ago by Justo Dieguez from his fighting experiences while raised on the streets of Spain and is based on the study and cultivation of natural instincts, rising in popularity with martial artists due to it's no nonsense approach and emphasis on mental focus.
Becoming a favourite for Hollywood fighting choreography, KFM was chosen to define the new Batman's brutal and real fighting style in Batman Begins and sequels.
Shawn first read about KFM in Blitz magazine and has followed the sport's progress in Australia.
"If you don't evolve you get left behind. The essence of martial arts is to keep growing," said Shawn, who is keen to add the new method to his training regime.
Deeming that martial arts skills are transferrable to everyday life giving advocates the ability to get off the ground and move more easily.
"It doesn't matter if you train for fighting or fitness, it is the ability to get off the ground that matters," he said.
Shawn believes the Keysi Fighting Method is perfect for those who want to keep fit as well as for those who wish to prepare and take precautions to take care of their family.
KFM is very practical and all about using what is available and being mentally aware of your environment, people and how they behave and respond.
PT Power Keysi Fighting Method classes are starting this month and the first two weeks are free.
Mixed Martial Arts fitness classes are available for those who aren't into fighting as well as cross-fit classes.
"Coss-Fit is a very intensive high demand class guaranteed to get results,"
A hands-on approach to training, Shawn maintains close contact with clients in order to help them achieve their goals.
"My business is their success," said Shawn, who believes fitness is for everyone.
