Key to feeling beautiful
FOR Amanda Brady there is nothing more rewarding than making somebody feel beautiful.
And that is something she discovered quickly after making the move from hospital nursing to cosmetic nursing.
"To know that you have made somebody look and feel their best is a really good feeling" she said.
Amanda has been a registered nurse for 16 years but decided to move away from the typical work to something a little different.
Since starting her role with Queensland Plastic Surgery two years ago, Amanda has been treating men and women of all ages with a variety of aesthetic procedures designed to fight the effects of aging.
"The type of clients we receive here really ranges.
"We do treat more women than men, but it really is across the board, ranging from people in their 20s to their 60s," she said.
Amanda, who is also the only cosmetic nurse in Central Queensland certified by the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science, said that her clients come back to her because of her professional and welcoming service.
Working alongside Dr Mark Vucak in the Mater Hospital's Kenmore House, Amanda takes care of a range of cosmetic treatments including chemical peels and injectable wrinkle relaxants.
"Injectable wrinkle relaxants are a purified protein that relaxes facial muscles and hold them in place in this relaxed state for several months" she said.
"Our aim is to offer you a treatment that you are comfortable with. A treatment to improve your looks and self esteem."
