Senator Watt calls on Landry for Royal Commission into banks
LABOR Senator Murray Watt today issued a call to arms for Capricornia MP Michelle Landry to use her "balance of power" vote to back a Royal Commission into the banks.
Mr Watt said the Federal Election left the Turnbull Government with a "razor-thin" majority, leaving Ms Landry in the "box seat" to decided whether to have the commission.
"The Federal election has left the Turnbull Government with a razor-thin majority - just one vote," Mr Watt said.
"All around Australia, there are thousands of victims of misconduct from banks.
"When she's at home, Ms Landry talks a big game about standing up to Canberra, but will she really stand up for Central Queensland when she gets down there?"
Ms Landry has been approached for comment on the issue.
Her response is expected later today.
