National Dress Like A Biker Day. Australian Sex Party

Sex. Now that we've got your attention, let's talk about VLAD

THE Australian Sex Party is jumping into bed with bikers, and you are invited to join in.

They have put out the call for bikers and non-bikers to dress in leather jackets, denim, chains or insignia in public places today to protest the Newman Government's controversial VLAD laws.

Peaceful National Dress Like A Biker Day demonstrations will be held across the country, including one in Maroochydore tonight.

Party president Fiona Patten said freedom of association was one of the primary civil liberties.

She said that there were better ways to address the problems associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs, their dealings in the illicit drug trade and the associated violence.

"The Australian Sex Party has long campaigned for drug law reform that would take the profits out of the hands of criminals," she said.

"This is the way to deal with criminal activity, not trying to shut it down through freedom of association laws which affect all Australians."

Sunshine Coast sex journalist and party member Eva Sless said they were expecting at least a few people to turn out to the planned Maroochydore protest.

"We just want to show a bit of the blatant stupidity of the laws," she said. "We understand there are criminal elements within the bikie world, but there are criminal elements within all worlds."

Participants are encouraged to share photos and information on Twitter using #DressLikeaBiker #VLAD and #qldpol.

The Maroochydore protest will be held on Aerodrome Rd, in the park opposite the Caltex Woolworths service station at 5pm.
