Camerawoman to sue Syrian refugee she tripped up

A HUNGARIAN camerawoman plans to sue the Syrian refugee she was filmed deliberately tripping up as he fled Serbian border police while carrying a child.

Petra Laszlo claims Osama Abdul Mohsen changed his testimony, at first blaming the police for the incident, then blaming her.

Laszlo, who initially apologised for the incident last month after footage of it was posted on social media, said the idea for the lawsuit came from her husband.

"My husband wants to prove my innocence," she said. "For him, it is now a matter of honour."

Laszlo was fired from her job at N1TV and faces a criminal trial in Hungary for "breach of the peace".

N1TV, which is run by the anti-immigration far-Right Jobbik party, was caught on camera kicking refugees fleeing a camp, including a young girl.

Another cameraman captured the moment Lazlo filmed the refugees running away from charging police officers at the border village of Roszke before sticking her leg out as Mohsen carrying his son ran past, causing them both to fall to the ground.

The video was widely shared on social media after it was posted by German reporter Stephan Richter on Twitter, with many condemning azlo's behaviour.

The station said Laszlo's conduct was unacceptable. "Our working relationship with the camerawoman has ended. The case was considered closed our part."
