Shop on Mt Archer is for sale

THE cool breeze atop Mount Archer is no match for the warmth of family.

Terry Dare and partner Tania Atkins, the owners of Cool Breeze Coffee Shop on Mount Archer, have decided to sell their business to focus on a new family member on the way.

Yesterday Terry said they were disappointed to sell up their innovative business, which has been open for 18 months, but their baby due in January next year was their main priority.

“It's disappointing for us but we just can't do both,” he said.

“We are not going to close until it's sold so we are open as normal until a buyer comes in.”

The coffee shop is for sale for $285,000 plus GST and includes the building and equipment.

Terry is so keen to find a buyer he is offering $1000 “spotters fee” to anyone who leads to the sale of the shop.

“I'd be quite willing to pay that if someone finds a person who would buy it,” he said.

Terry said the business had been good but they, like everyone, were affected by the global financial crisis.

“Things are on the up now; we survived all right and now we are looking to build a future with it,” he said.

“We enjoyed the experience and will definitely look for another shop to get into down the track.”

The idea of a hilltop cafe came when Terry returned to Picnic Point Park in Toowoomba and saw that the little kiosk built there 30 years before had been replaced with a restaurant.

“Out idea was driven from that; it (the restaurant) was spectacular,” he said.

“We have just as nice an area on Mount Archer so we wanted to do the same thing.”
